Strategy Derivation for Small Progress Measures
نویسندگان
چکیده
Small Progress Measures is one of the most efficient parity game solving algorithms. The original algorithm provides the full solution (winning regions and strategies) in O(dm · (n/⌈d/2⌉) ⌈d/2⌉) time, and requires a rerun of the algorithm on one of the winning regions. We provide a novel operational interpretation of progress measures, and modify the algorithm so that it derives the winning strategies for both players in one pass. This reduces the upper bound on strategy derivation for SPM to O(dm · (n/⌊d/2⌋) ⌊d/2⌋).

Improvement in Small Progress Measures
Small Progress Measures is one of the classical parity game solving algorithms. For games with n vertices, m edges and d different priorities, the original algorithm computes the winning regions and a winning strategy for one of the players in O(dm · (n/⌊d/2⌋)⌊d/2⌋) time. Computing a winning strategy for the other player requires a re-run of the algorithm on that player’s winning region, thus i...
متن کاملMutate Large, but Inherit Small ! on the Analysis of Rescaled Mutations in ( ~ 1; ~ )-es with Noisy Fitness Data
The paper presents the asymptotical analysis of a technique for improving the convergence of evolution strategies (ES) on noisy t-ness data. This technique that may be called \Mutate large, but inherit small", is discussed in light of the EPP (evolutionary progress principle). The derivation of the progress rate formula is sketched, its predictions are compared with experiments, and its limitat...
متن کاملDesign and Management of Complex Technical Processes and Systems by means of Computational Intelligence Methods Predicting the Solution Quality in Noisy Optimization
Noise often occurs in real-world optimization tasks. Although evolution strategies and other evolutionary algorithms are thought to be robust against the effects of noise, even their performance is degraded. Generally, one observes a reduction of the convergence velocity and a deterioration of the final solution quality. There are two local progress measures describing the performance of evolut...
متن کاملProgress and obstacles towards generating hematopoietic stem cells from pluripotent stem cells.
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Human pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) have the potential to provide an inexhaustible source of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) that could be used in disease modeling and in clinical applications such as transplantation. Although the goal of deriving definitive HSCs from PSCs has not been achieved, recent studies indicate that progress is being made. This review will provide info...
متن کاملA Generic Circuit Modeling Strategy Combining Symbolic and Numeric Analysis
In this paper we present a generic modeling strategy for the derivation of approximated symbolic expressions for small-signal characteristics of analog circuits. This approach is characterized by a tight interaction between symbolic and numeric computations to ensure continuous error control and verification of the results. The workflow may also be extended to the derivation of nonlinear circui...
